About the workshop
Originally the technique of the taracea combines wood with mother-of-pearl, ivory and silver to create mosaics to decorate boxes, chests and tables. Nowdays craftmen use materials that simulate the originals ones. Our class will stay true to the current techniques used by the craftsmen of Granada.
Process
1. Participants will first draw a geometric pattern on a sheet of wood.
2. Next we measure and cut the materials to prepare them to be put together according to a tracing done previously.
3. Once completed, we varnish the piece.
Who´s for?
Become an apprentice craftsman of the Alhambra! No prior artistic knowledge is required, as our craftsman will guide you through the whole process.
How does it work?
Once you have confirmed the reservation by a 30% deposit you will reveive:
– by courrier : Craft Pack with all the necessary materials + 1 Pen wooden organizer made by our craftsmen.
– in your email: Parcel Tracking + link and details on how to join.
The remaining 70% due will be paid 3 days AFTER THE ACTIVITY is carried out.
Note: few days before the activity we will test the connection and the equipment (computers, webcam, audio,…).
On the day of the workshop
Our craftman, will be on hand throughout to guide all participants through the processes step by step, show examples to inspire their makes and everyone can have a chat with him.
